Sonia Gulati, PhD

Executive in Residence

As an Executive in Residence at Kairos Ventures, Sonia works closely with founding scientists to develop and execute on a commercialization strategy with the goal of helping companies reach key commercial milestones.

Sonia has a broad background in life sciences venture capital, strategy consulting and basic science research. Prior to joining Kairos Ventures, Sonia was an Assistant Director at New York Ventures, a $100 million seed and early-stage venture fund that invests in the New York life sciences community. At New York Ventures Sonia led investments in early stage companies with transformative technologies in therapeutic areas ranging from immune oncology to diabetes. As Assistant Director, she was responsible for driving the investment process including sourcing deals, due diligence, creating investment memorandums, executing deals and serving as a board observer for her portfolio companies.

Before joining New York Ventures, Sonia worked at a boutique healthcare consultancy serving an array of clients from small biotechnology companies introducing their first products to global pharmaceutical companies. As a consultant, Sonia evaluated industry trends, assessed market dynamics and identified growth opportunities to help her clients meet their commercial development goals.

Sonia completed her post-doctoral studies and received her PhD from the Graduate School of Arts & Sciences, Columbia University. She has a B.A. from Barnard College, Columbia University.
