Martin holds a PhD in Molecular Genetics from The Ohio State University, where he studied aberrant DNA methylation in human non-small cell lung cancer. His research focused on the identification of molecular markers for early disease detection, progression, and prognosis. He further completed a post-doctoral fellowship at the University of Southern California, where he investigated epigenetic variance across breast cancer type, and the effects of in-vitro culture on the epigenomic stability of human embryonic stem cells. He has published 22 manuscripts and several book chapters, which together received over 2,200 citations. After his post-doctoral studies, Martin earned an MBA from UCLA Anderson School of Management.
